Last week (12/09/2022-14/09/2022) ICP hosted the largest European conference on the topic of packaging for food products, the 2nd Circul-a-bility conference, which is held as part of the COST campaign RETHINKING PACKAGING FOR CIRCULAR AND SUSTAINABLE FOOD SUPPLY CHAINS OF THE FUTURE (CA 19124). ICP, as the local host and organizer, also took care of a regular MC meeting of campaign representatives and a varied program that included more than 80 contributions on the topic of packaging, food technology and recycling. The conference was held for the first time in a hybrid format (at two physical locations in Ljubljana) and thus enabled many guests from abroad to also participate online and actively follow the events. The program included invited lectures by eminent lecturers from abroad and from Slovenia, and food companies from Slovenia also had the opportunity to present their own achievements regarding the use of more sustainable and circular packaging. The participants of the MC meeting had the opportunity to visit the ICP and learn about the research infrastructure.
The presented achievements are published in a book of abstracts and all authors are invited to contribute to a special issue of the journal Frontiers and Sustainable Food Systems.
The conference was supported by SRIP circular economy, COST action and the journal Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems.
